Week 4!!!

     I chose to delay my blog post from Monday to Saturday this week because I knew I had more going on towards the end of this week. As far as updates go, I achieved my goal of waking up and getting out of bed earlier. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find somewhere outside I can run. It got a lot colder very quickly and I think the time for some casual hiking and running is going to be ending very soon. 

    Starting with the beginning of the week, I've been getting more comfortable taking the bus everywhere. I went to target for some shopping, I take the bus to class every tuesday, and I take it every time I go to the gym. It's been coming in handy just to get from place to place since everything is kind of spread out. 

    I went to have dinner with a group of friends on Wednesday, saw Dear Evan Hansen on Thursday, and had a movie knight with friends on Friday and I cooked a blueberry pie for everyone. Nothing better to bring people together than eating pie, right? 

    But I think the highlight of the weekend was the snow! We got our first snow day here which is very different from the snow days I'm used to back home. In South Carolina, we might get one or two snow days that stick, and that would be in the middle of winter. Out here in Alaska, our first day of snow is already better than the best day of snow back home. From what I hear, it still came a lot earlier than expected, but I'm a fan for now. 

    So my win for the week is definitely hanging out with my friends a lot. I'm glad that even though I have a lot of online classes, I'm still meeting people and socializing. I think my goal for next week is going to be to pick one of the activities I have on my list of things to do, and try to plan it out. I thought I could volunteer at the humane society, go to a trampoline park, paint pottery, or find a place to go rock climbing. So hopefully I can get to do all of these things at some point throughout the semester. I also heard that I had been accepted to the University of Vienna to study abroad for the spring semester and I'm having to do a lot of research and planning about that. Hopefully when I get everything sorted I can start thinking of some bigger Alaska-related trips.

    I wish it would snow here. I am very jealous. The snow looks absolutely amazing and I wish I were there. I'm glad you're having a good time!

First Week Recap

     So far so good. I was able to get a negative COVID test result, so I got to attend my Chemistry class. It took a second to work through the format of all my online classes but this week was only introduction assignments. All except Chemistry of course, we started right off with the first chapter of information and a nice easy 176 question homework assignment. I caught up with all my work over the weekend so hopefully this week won't be so bad.      There are still a few things I need get more used to around campus. I have to figure out the bus system so I can get to some of my classes. I also want to go to the gym at some point but needless to say, running long distances on a treadmill doesn't exactly motivate me since they don't have a track.      All in all there is not much to talk about. I have a few plans for next week, but I'll save it for the next blog!

WEEK 8!!!

 I figured out that I skipped a week when I changed my blogging day from Monday to Saturday so I had to catch myself up with my titles. This week was another interesting one. I did find myself at the library everyday this week to do work. However, as of literally 5 minutes ago, my WiFi starting workng again. After multiple calls and emails and tests all they had to do was reset the router. Of course. At least I got comfortable working in the library, I think that'll come in handy if I just need to switch up my environment to focus on my work.  I made a bit of progress with my study abroad plans. I've finished setting up my student account and narrowed down some housing options. I just need to apply to a few dorms and figure out a few more classes to take while I'm there.  Overall another well-rounded week. WEEK 11!

 Another week gone by, this one was weird. I really didn't have a lot to do this week so I took the liberty of giving myself a mental health week. I slept in most days and read a lot and watched a lot of TV. But honestly it was a much needed break, and next week will go back to normal.  I finally achieved one of my goals and I saw a moose on campus! I was just walking to my chemistry class and there were two moose (mooses?) just standing right outside. I'm very glad I looked up because I feel like I could've just walked right by them and not even noticed. I have plenty of videos, unfortunately I didn't think to take a picture to post on here. You'll just have to take my word for it.  I went to go see Eternals on Friday and I loved it. I had no real prior knowledge on who the eternals were so I had no guesses on what the plot was, but I was happily suprised. The two post-credit scenes did not disappoint.
