WEEK 13!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I had a very good week despite being away from family. My brother's birthday was the day before so I Facetimed and watched him open the present I sent him. He asked for a chess board (what a nerd). Him and my parents went to visit our extended family in North Carolina and I got to Facetime and talk to them as well. They were impressed by the amount of snow outside my window and by me saying 13 degrees was the warmest it's been in a while.  I also was eating lunch at the same time my family was eating Thanksgiving dinner so we ate together over Facetime (yes, three calls in two days). It lasted all of 20 minutes before they had gone through their first and second helpings.  I also officially finished planning my trip to Fairbanks with my friends. It'll be my last trip before I leave (which by the way is in two weeks)! We're going dogsledding and hopefully we'll spot the Northern Lights. I know I've talked about it like every single blog I...

WEEK 12!!!

And the countdown continues! Three weeks until my flight home! This week was another good one.  I had friendsgiving on Monday with a bunch of my pals. Dinner was a good break from dining hall food. Luckily for me, they had all my thanksgiving favorites: chicken, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, you name it.  The temperatures seem to be staying in the single digits from now on so the snow is still here. Everything is frozen and white. I took some pictures and it almost looks like I put a black and white filter over everything. It's very pretty, but spend more than 5 minutes outside and I get frost on my eyelashes.  The university had another movie night on Friday. I saw the new Ghostbusters movie with some friends. I thought the movie was good but not because of the plot. I rarely speak badly of movies but the comedy made the movie, it would've been hard to sit through otherwise. I also made a lot of progress on planning my trip to Fairbanks. I got s...

Week 12!!!

And once again, unsurprisingly, I'm blogging on Sunday because I forgot to yesterday. It's been a very eventful week. We got a really good snow day, which is still sticking around because its so cold. It was 7 degrees when I went to grab my dinner tonight. Of course I was expecting the cold, but it's currently 50 back home (in the middle of the night). I can't remember if it ever got in the single digits there. I've made a lot of progress planning the trips I wanted to take. I'll have to fit everything into December though because prices for transportation are high around thanksgiving. So, I'll have some good few blogs the last weeks before I leave which is in less than a month now (no way!). I'll also have gotten most of my studying for finals done by then too so I'll get to celebrate after the last few stressful weeks of the semester.  I have a lot to look forward to next week (the last week before thankgiving break). I'm going to have a frien...

WEEK 11!

Another week gone by, this one was weird. I really didn't have a lot to do this week so I took the liberty of giving myself a mental health week. I slept in most days and read a lot and watched a lot of TV. But honestly it was a much needed break, and next week will go back to normal.  I finally achieved one of my goals and I saw a moose on campus! I was just walking to my chemistry class and there were two moose (mooses?) just standing right outside. I'm very glad I looked up because I feel like I could've just walked right by them and not even noticed. I have plenty of videos, unfortunately I didn't think to take a picture to post on here. You'll just have to take my word for it.  I went to go see Eternals on Friday and I loved it. I had no real prior knowledge on who the eternals were so I had no guesses on what the plot was, but I was happily suprised. The two post-credit scenes did not disappoint. If you've seen it then you know exactly what I'm talkin...

Week 10!!!

So again I'm realizing the weeks are passing by too quickly, I almost forgot to blog this week, hence why I'm doing it on Sunday. I think this week was the toughest so far. I had a lot of work to get done, but I think next week is going to make up for it. It's tough to work ahead because a lot of my professors post work week-by-week, but I was able to get a head start on some of my criminal justice reading and chemistry lab reports. Also happy Halloween!!! I have no plans for today but I did hang out with some friends yesterday and we watched some Halloween movies. Nothing too spooky though, no horror movies for me thank you.  I did manage to get to the Humane Society last weekend. Manging the bus times is going to be tricky, but I'm trying to make it there at least once a week.  Even though it's been a busy week, I still managed to read a lot of books. If you know me, you know that I can spend hours at a time reading if I feel like it. I decided to reread one of my...

WEEK 9!!!

Now is the point in the semester where the weeks are going by really fast. I feel like I'm doing these posts way to often now. It's not ok, I only have about month and a half left here. This week was a tough one. I have had a criminal justice midterm, a biology exam, and I have to finalize the classes I'm going to take next semester by November 1st. I'm experiencing the typical mid-semester procrastination.      Not much happened this week apart from class work. But the weekend has been much more eventful. I went to see Dune on Friday. I had some complaints but I tend to be overly critical of movies sometimes. I thought it was well done but admitedly I was confused about 90% of the time. I'm also going to go to the Humane Society today for the first time today. I'm sure I'll have an update for next weeks blog (maybe with some pictures of some cute animals). I think they only have cats, but that's ok I guess cats need homes too, right?     Day...

WEEK 8!!!

Image
I figured out that I skipped a week when I changed my blogging day from Monday to Saturday so I had to catch myself up with my titles. This week was another interesting one. I did find myself at the library everyday this week to do work. However, as of literally 5 minutes ago, my WiFi starting workng again. After multiple calls and emails and tests all they had to do was reset the router. Of course. At least I got comfortable working in the library, I think that'll come in handy if I just need to switch up my environment to focus on my work.  I made a bit of progress with my study abroad plans. I've finished setting up my student account and narrowed down some housing options. I just need to apply to a few dorms and figure out a few more classes to take while I'm there.  Overall another well-rounded week. I went out for sushi with some friends, took a walk thorugh the trails behind my dorm (even though it was because I had to build a rock tower for my art class, it was s...
